Tukutuku panels

 Yesterday I found out About tukutuku panels and I found out that you can use pingao plants for our tukutuku panels , but our  seeds where from Canterbury And down in Canterbury pingao seeds are used to being cold .


But up at Northland it is too hot. The pingao seeds wear actually for the Taupo Bay sand dune restoration project . We are trying to protect the Dotterels Because They are native birds and they need a place to Nest.

Patik This diamond shaped design is called the patik or flounder because of its shape. 

Roimate Softly drooping quality Of this Design is reflect in its name roimata or tears . 

Kaokao  The kaokao or Armpit follow the outline of a man's chest and arm . In some places of this pattern is known as niho Taniwha teeth of the Taniwha . ( It symbolizes protection )


Roimate toroa  Tears of the albatross is name given to the design ( According to traditional young albatross crying when they see Hunters coming. 


Poutama  This Step- like patterns can be taken to show the gesture of greeting for visitors to the marae.
